Pack 197 was founded in the summer of 2002. Jack Rose was our founding Cubmaster, and Jeff Robinson was the Assistant Cubmaster. Pack 197
started with around 15 boys, and the first year the Pack was small enough to meet in the dining room of our charter organization, Redeemer's
Church. Redeemer's Church was our first chartering body, and we continuously grew during our time there. Redeemer's provided us with a firm foundation
for growth, and like all healthy organizations, that foundation led to an explosion in interest. By 2005, Pack 197 had over 50 members and strong adult
leadership. Dave Dubose served as Cubmaster during this period of amazing growth. By the middle of 2006, Pack 197 had outgrown the available space at Redeemer's
Church. Redeemer's graciously helped us as we moved our charter to Heritage Christian Church on Maxtown Road. As we begin to write a new chapter in the history
of our unit, we are poised for additional growth, better programming and lots of fun!
Most importantly, our Pack has a tradition of strong parental involvement and an abundance of talented adults who have committed to providing our Cub Scouts with
a great Scouting experience. Without these wonderful parents and volunteers, our Pack would not be as successful as it has been. Much thanks to all of those who
have done their best to help our Scouts grow.
