If you weren't at Monday's pack meeting, here's what you missed      Date Posted: 11/30/2011
A few important announcements from Cub Scout Pack 197:

1. Outings news: We are scheduled for a pack bowling event on January 29th at the Columbus Square Bowling Palace from 2 - 4 pm. The cost is $8 per person for two games and shoes. All family members are invited and there is no need to RSVP for this event.
Also, our Ice Hockey Outing is scheduled for Feb 4th, when we'll watch the Buckeyes take on Michigan State at Value City Arena at 7 pm. Tickets are $7. All family members are invited, but tickets must be ordered by 1/13/12, cash or check made payable to Brian Prince. You can RSVP at

2. Help wanted: We have a few key positions on the pack committe opening up soon and need volunteers to fill them. We are looking for:

Tech Specialist: Position begins in February; includes maintaining the pack website, running the AV equipment at pack meetings, and running the software program during the Pinewood Derby

Service Project Coordinator: Position begins in February; plan pack service projects (one per month during the school year) and record hours of participation for the Scouts

Pack Committee Chairman: Position begins in June; oversee pack committee, develop budget and calendar, act as "project manager" for the pack.

And one more extremely important position I somehow neglected to mention on Monday - Cubmaster: Position begins in June; oversee Scout program for the year, plan pack meetings, act as head leader to all Scouts.

Our program depends on enthusiastic leaders stepping up to fill vacated roles. Please consider donating your time to participate in Scouting. If two adults would like to share a position, that would be fine, too. Please contact me if you can help!

Lastly, as Cortney mentioned, our popcorn sale was very successful this year! A big thanks to her for all her hard work to pull it together. I'm so proud of all of the boys and the strong effort they made! I'd like to thank all of you parents for supporting your son and "doing your best" to help him in his sales endeavors. Because of the strong sale, the Pack will be able to fund our entire year, including awards, the Pinewood Derby, our Blue and Gold banquet, and even pay for a few extras. We are hoping to have enough to fully fund the Cold Toes campout this spring and have no need for parents to pitch in. Thank you so much for your dedication to Scouting!

Yours in Scouting,
Becki Seum
Pack 197 Committee Chair
